A 10-Minute Morning Routine to Start Your Day the Right Way
Most morning routines found online take hours to complete—thirty minutes of exercise, three pages of journaling, or twenty minutes of meditation. Most people simply don’t have that kind of spare time in the morning. However, in just ten minutes, you can create a morning routine that sets the right mindset to tackle your day. Read on to discover a few time-saving habits to incorporate into your morning.
Minute 1 – Drink the Water
Keep a large glass of water by your bedside. Before you even get up, drink it. After a long night of repairing itself, your body is dehydrated and needs replenishing. Drinking water will also help reduce that morning grogginess, no matter how much coffee you have later.
Minutes 2-3 – Focus on Your Breathing
Now that your body is rehydrating, take a couple of minutes for some simple breathing exercises. Try six to ten deep breaths per minute, focusing on your breath and body. This will help wake you up while also bringing a sense of calm before your day begins.
Minutes 3-6 – Stretch Your Body
Gentle stretching gets your blood flowing and helps ease you into the day ahead. It also has long-term benefits, such as improved circulation and flexibility, making it a worthwhile habit to maintain.
Minutes 6-9 – Practise Gratitude
Take a few moments to reflect on what you’re grateful for. There’s no need to write anything down—just pause to appreciate aspects of your life and why they matter. This simple habit can put a positive spin on your day and help you stay present, even during challenging moments.
Minute 10 – Visualise Success
Spend the last minute visualising the successes you want to achieve. These could be small wins for the day (such as a productive meeting) or long-term goals (like running a half marathon or saving for a house deposit). Holding onto these positive images can boost your confidence and motivation.
You may not have hours to spare for a morning routine, but dedicating just ten minutes to these simple steps can help you start your day on the right foot—or breath.
